OUR APPROACH
At Kloof Pre-Primary we know that all children learn most effectively through concrete experiences. This is why all of our play areas are very carefully set up to allow for maximum exploration and learning through all of the senses.
Recent research in education has proved that children under 6 years old do not learn as effectively when they are passive. Active engagement with things and ideas promotes mental activity that helps them retain new knowledge and integrate it with what they already know. All the activities throughout the day are, therefore, child-centred to provide ample opportunities for active learning, creativity and critical thinking.
Our Grade R's follow the CAPS curriculum provided by the Department of Education. They work through the Language, Mathematics and Life Skills in a way that provides for formal learning, as well as many of these practical experiences. This ensures that concepts are consolidated and retained in a far more effective way.
