Pre-school education has always been a passion and with more than 25 years of experience and working in this environment, I am always mindful of what motivates and stimulates me, a quote that sums up perfectly why I chose and followed such a career.
"Childhood is not a race to see how quickly a child can read, write and count. Childhood is a small window of time to develop at the pace which is right for each individual child."
As I reflect on the many children I have taught through the years, their smiles, their laughter, their ups and downs, even their sadness at times, I appreciate they are all unique, all different, a mixture of so many characters and personalities. This is what makes teaching a privileged calling, to work with, to understand, to learn and to cherish the journey of each individual child, the reward being able to look back and know that no matter how small it may have been, a teacher has added an ingredient into shaping so many lives.
I have been privileged to belong to the Kloof Pre-Primary family for the past seven years as a teacher and have now stepped into the role of acting principal, wanting to take on a new challenge and to make a positive impact on this special school. It also proves that, as teachers, we never stop learning and each day brings new beginnings.
Our school has a dedicated team of teachers who provide quality education for each development phase of the pre-school child. Our vision of growing curious minds for a changing tomorrow is paramount to me and all my staff as we strive to impart the values of truth, care and respect to all our learners, the foundations that can carry them through their paths in life.
