OUR PLAY AREAS
At Kloof pre-Primary we know that all children learn most effectively through concrete experiences. This is why all of our play areas are very carefully set up to allow for maximum exploration and learning through all of the senses.
THE COURTYARD
Different media are put in the troughs daily, which help the children to develop their tactile senses while playing. Big paper is provided on easels for painting to ensure that children are learning to cross their midlines and to also paint on a different plane. We also provide various gross motor skill activities to develop balance and co-ordination, such as balance beams, stilts and obstacle courses.
FANTASY & HOME CORNER
Our fantasy or home corner changes weekly, with new dress up clothes put out as well as the furniture arranged in a new and exciting way. Fantasy play is encouraged, as role-play helps children to develop their emotional and social skills.
BLOCK CORNER
The blocks are always accompanied by different toys in order to promote imaginative play. Block play is important in teaching children problem solving skills, mathematics as well as creativity.
INNOVATION CENTRE
Through purposeful play and a curated range of educational challenges, we empower our children to think critically and solve problems for themselves. Our learning environment fosters 21st-century skills like innovation and communication by blending traditional tools such as graded puzzles, our active Robotics and Six Bricks programs. Looking ahead, we are laying the foundation for our long-term vision, which includes the implementation of STEM lessons. At KPP, we don’t just teach children what to learn, but how to think, creating curious and resilient innovators.
ART & CREATIVE ROOM

Sand play is important for the development of many of a child’s mathematical concepts as well as being a very soothing activity when a child needs some quiet time.
